Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued In Parts Of Montco, Chesco

Pea-sized hail and winds up to 70 miles per hour are possible, forecasters said.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued in parts of Montgomery and Chester counties as another round of the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal move into the greater Philadelphia region.

The warning is in place until 5:15 p.m. in some areas, and until 5:45 p.m. in others. Impacted areas are shown below:

It appears to be the most powerful part of the front moving into the region, progressing steadily across southwestern Chester County earlier this afternoon and progressing towards communities along the Schuylkill River from around 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

"As of 4:10 p.m., a broken line of thunderstorms have developed over portions of eastern PA into northern Maryland," the National Weather Service's Mt. Holly, New Jersey branch shared. "With time, these storms will progress east, moving into the Philadelphia area/urban corridor by 6-7p.m. and towards the coast by 8-9 p.m."
