As Spring Is Sprung, Montco Trail Challenge Highlight's County's Parks, Green Spaces
Montgomery County has more than 100 miles of trails ranging from the Wissahickon to Green Lane. Details on the challenge:
NORRISTOWN, PA — The annual Montco Trail Challenge, a friendly competition to encourage residents to visit green spaces and spend time exploring outside, has begun.
The 10th annual event, organized by the county, offers various rewards to participants for recording visits to five, 10, or 15 trails in the event.
The program runs from April 26 to Dec. 1.

“Montgomery County’s trails cover every corner of the County, from Valley Forge to Green Lane and from Philadelphia to Pottstown and beyond,” Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello said in a statement. "The Trail Challenge is the perfect excuse to find a new place to discover, as well as to revisit family-favorite spots. And many of the trails connect to our popular parks, where you can experience all kinds of activities and events all year round."
Montgomery County has more than 100 miles of trails ranging from the Schuylkill River Trail and Cross County Trail to networks along the Perkiomen Creek, Wissahickon Creek, and around Green Lane.

This year's challenge includes the county's newest trails, the seven miles located around Twining Valley Park in Upper Dublin which feature dog parks, fishing access, hiking, bird watching, and other recreation opportunities.
Register for the Trail Challenge online here. To participate, record the trail symbol at each location as proof of your visit. All participating trails have a distinctive animal symbol. Entries can be submitted online or dropped off at these locations around the county.
An official kick-off event will be held Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at Central Perkiomen Valley Park in Schwenksville. Bike safety resources, healthy snacks, free bike helmets for children, and more will be offered. RSVP online here.
