Teenager Arrested for Buying Pot for Herself and 16-Year-Old Brother

Rachel Beth Hendricks faces drug-related and corruption of a minor charges.

According to a report from the Norristown Police Department, a 19-year-old Norristown woman was arrested on Sunday, March 25, for arranging to buy pot from another Norristown resident and involving her 16-year-old brother in the transaction.

Rachel Beth Hendricks, 19, is being charged with several counts of receipt in commerce and one count of corruption of a minor.

An officer reportedly observed a white male juvenile enter the corner store at Cherry and Marshall streets shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday and meet up with an unidentified black male. The juvenile then exited the store without making any purchase.

According to police, outside the store, the juvenile met with another black male, later identified as 21-year-old Dimitrius Smith, and a white female, later identified as Hendricks. The officer conducted a pedestrian shop and a search of the juvenile's person revealed a small packet of marijuana. The drugs were seized and the juvenile was taken into custody. 

Police then asked Smith if he had any illegal contraband on his person. Smith admitted to having marijuana on his person, which he turned over to police.

Smith, Hendricks and the juvenile were all taken into custody and transported to the police station. Hendricks was placed in a cell to await arraignment.

Smith gave a written statement to police detailing how Hendricks had contacted him earlier in the day to purchase marijuana for her and her brother. Smith also told police that he, Hendricks and her brother had smoked marijuana shortly before they were stopped by police. He was cited for disorderly conduct and was released after giving police his statement.
