Another Round Of Storms In Weekend Forecast For Eastern PA

A multiple day storm front could impact weekend plans in eastern Pennsylvania.

EASTERN PA — Another batch of thunderstorms is on the way to the greater Philadelphia area this weekend, the latest development in a constantly fluctuating weather cycle in the region.

Friday night will be very cool, down in the 60s, before soaring back up to 87 on Saturday. Storms have a chance of arriving after 5 p.m., forecasters said.

The initial chance of rain is about 30 percent. It will increase to 60 percent later in the night Saturday, and then both showers and thunderstorms will become likely by Sunday morning.

The more severe impacts of the storm in southeastern Pennsylvania are more likely to hit Sunday through Sunday night. Localized wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are possible, along with torrential downpours where there are thunderstorms, AccuWeather said.

While severe impacts are not as likely as in previous storms, it will be enough to keep thunder and rain threatening throughout most of the weekend, according to forecasters.

Once the storms roll through, there will be another period of cool weather, followed by more heat next week.

"The Northeast will be stuck in a cycle where it is delightfully cool for two days or so, then hot and humid for two days and repeat," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said in a statement. "In between, during the transitions, there will be showers and thunderstorms with severe weather in some locations."
