Tourism Generated $2.4 Billion In Montgomery County In 2023

The latest annual report shows a massive and growing impact from tourism. And even bigger events are coming to Montco in the next two years:

OAKS, PA — The Montgomery County tourism industry and economy is booming, with record growth and visitor spending of $1.7 billion in 2023, according to the 2024 annual report published by officials and tourism industry leaders.

The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board's Annual Report highlighted a 7 percent increase in visitor spending from the year before, for a total of $2.4 billion in economic impact. Tourism also produced 41,000 jobs.

“As we look ahead to 2026, I’m incredibly proud of the team for making what once seemed impossible a reality,” VFTCB President and CEO Mike Bowman said. “This record-breaking year is a testament to our dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the tourism industry in Montco."

But leaders are more excited about what's to come. Next year, the county will play host to the Truist Championship, a PGA TOUR Signature Event, at the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course in Flourtown. The county has also "won back" the US Youth Soccer Eastern Presidents Cup Championship for 2025, one of the most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in the nation.

In 2026, neighboring Philadelphia will host the FIFA World Cup and the MLB All Star Game, both of which are expected to be a tourism boon for Montgomery County.

The annual report was unveiled at the Board's luncheon gala, which featured some 650 attendees and numerous special guests and speakers including Montgomery County Commissioners Jamila Winder and Neil Makhija. It took place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks.
