Transgendered Norristown Resident Sentenced to Prison for Murder
Asia Santana, 41, will serve 14 to 28 years in state prison for the murder of her boyfriend.

Several local and national media outlets have reported this weekend on the sentencing of Asia Santana, a transgendered woman from Norristown who was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 21, to 14 to 28 years in state prison for the murder of her boyfriend.

According to reports, Santana, who's given name is Tyrone Crawley, pled guilty on Wednesday, Oct. 19, to charges of third-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime in the stabbing death of her 28-year-old boyfriend, Eric Nevith, on Aug. 13, 2010.
According to reports, Santana reportedly addressed the court during sentencing and expressed her remose and sadness at what happened.

“I fought with Eric all the time about him giving me this disease,” she said, crying. “I am sick to my soul without him. I love him with every fiber of my being.”
According to , Santana and Nevith, who had been in a five-year relationship, were arguing that day and Santana said the argument turned violent when Nevith struck her in the face. Santana claims she blacked out and does not remember attacking him and the next thing she recalled was seeing Nevith lying on the floor, bleeding from the mouth. Prosecuters say Santana stabbed Nevith six times in several parts of his body, severing his thoracic aorta and striking a lung.

Reports say Santana claims the argument stemmed from Nevith allegedly infecting her with HIV.
