NY Times Profiles Montco's Val Arkoosh And Her Bid For U.S. Senate
The New York Times profiled Montgomery County's leader as the "anti-Dr. Oz" in the high profile 2022 U.S. Senate race.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Val Arkoosh, the county commissioner and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, is getting some national play with her campaign, as was evidenced recently by the profile piece done by the New York Times.
The newspaper noted how Arkoosh is being framed as the 'Anti-Dr. Oz,' contrasting her Senate candidacy with the campaign of Republican Mehmet Oz, the celebrity physician who announced recently that he, too, is running to succeed Pennsylvania's outgoing U.S. Senator, Pat Toomey.
“It really does take a doctor to stand up to a doctor,” Arkoosh said in the piece. “I don’t even know how he still has a license, with some of the stuff that comes out his mouth."

Arkoosh is among the favorites in the high profile 2022 race, which could help determine the balance of power in the Senate next year. She'll have to beat Lt. Governor John Fetterman and a host of other Democrats to do it. Oz, who also now resides in Montgomery County, recently joined a crowded Republican field that includes a host of politicians with local ties: former Congressional candidate Kathy Barnette, Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale, and local businessman Jeff Bartos.
