Woman Allegedly Hides Drugs in Cop Car

A Norristown woman who was arrested on drug charges reportedly tried to hide crack in the police cruiser that transported her to the station.

According to a report from the , officers discovered a bag of crack cocaine concealed in a police car that had been used to transport a suspected drug dealer.

Police executed a search warrant on an apartment in the 1000 block of DeKalb Street around 4:30pm on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and found 18-year-old Shahida Bird lying on a sofa in the living room. On a table next to the couch, officers reportedly discovered a cylindrical container directly in front of Bird containing 19 green-tinted packets of suspected crack cocaine. Officers also recovered additional packaging materials scattered throughout the room and a crack pipe. A further search of the apartment revealed a black, semi-automatic 9mm handgun hidden behind the sofa.

Bird was placed under arrest and put into a police cruiser for transport to the station. After Bird was escorted to the station, the officer searched the car and discovered a plastic bag shoved under the cage divider between the back and fron seats of the car. The bag contained a white, rock-like substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine. The officer had reportedly searched the vehicle prior to taking possession of it and reported no such object was there prior to transporting Bird and no other persons were transported prior to that.

The suspected drugs, paraphernalia and the gun were placed into evidence. Bird faces multiple weapons and drug-related charges in connection with the incident.
