Comfort Inn Has Early Morning Room Fire

No injuries reported

The lights are out at the Comfort Inn on 25th Street in Palmer Township, at least until the smoke clears.

Palmer Township fire officials were called out to the Comfort Inn at the 25th Street Shopping Plaza around 5:30am today after receiving reports of a fire in one of the rooms. No injuries were reported and everyone in the hotel was evacuated safely.

According to reports, the fire started in a room on the fourth floor. The fire was extinguished by the room’s sprinkler system and was contained to the room. However, the fire caused extensive smoke and water damage, according to Palmer Township Fire Department Assistant Chief Andy Carr.

No one from the hotel was available for comment. But Carr said every floor sustained smoke damage. He added that hotel officials are hoping to reopen sometime today.

The hotel is currently closed and all power has been shut down.
