Digital Billboard Hearing Postponed, Again

The applicants for a digital billboard to be erected in Palmer Township withdrew from meeting, according to township Zoning Administrator James Raudenbush.

The applicant, Pennsylvania Venture Capital, Inc. of Whitehall, sent the board a letter postponing its appearance until January, Raudenbush said.

The proposed digital billboard needs a zoning variance because it would exceed the township’s size limits and would encroach on a residential neighborhood. A special meeting scheduled in October was also cancelled to give the township time to review the proposal.

The billboard would be on the northwest corner of Charlotte Avenue and Watson Street on the south side of Route 22. The billboard, if approved, would stand higher than the 10-foot-tall and 50-foot-wide restrictions in the municipal code.

Though the letter from Pennsylvania Venture Capital pushed the hearing to January, Raudenbush said it could be postponed again if the company wishes.

The Zoning Board will meet tonight because there are two other requests on the agenda that will proceed: the expansion of a home business, and placement of an in-ground pool in a homeowner's front yard. (Agenda attached.)
