Fish For Shad This Weekend in Easton

Annual Forks of the Delaware Shad Tournament kicks off Saturday morning.

For 31 years, the end of April has meant hundreds—sometimes thousands—of fishermen and women coming to Easton to compete in the Forks of the Delaware Shad Tournament.

If you'd like to be a part of this year's tournament, Thursday is your last day to sign up. Registration runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Scott Park.

The tournament runs from Saturday, April 27 to Friday, May 3, with weigh station set up in Scott Park from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In recent years, the tournament has seen declining attendance and sponsorship. In 2011, it was nearly canceled before being rescued by local car dealer Tom Ring, whose employees were fans of shad fishing.
