Forks Hopes Fire will Bring new Revenue

Forks Township wants to rent its firefighter-training tower to other municipalities.

Seeking ways to create new revenue, will rent out its burn tower and charge for materials to set it on fire.

The fees for using the fire department’s training facility are part of the township’s 2012 fee schedule approved at .

The training tower and burn room at station 25-2, Glover and Kuebler Roads, simulates conditions in building fires to training firefighters. The idea is to have other municipalities pay to use the facility, bringing a little more income to the township.

The fire tower rental for a live burn costs $75 for four hours or $150 for eight hours.  There is also a mandatory personnel fee set at $40 for four hours or $80 for eight hours. That fee is to have a Forks Fire staff member on-site during the burn.

The township will also charge $5 for bales of hay and $5 for each pallet used in the burn. Checks should be made payable to the Forks Township General Fund for use of the tower; the personnel fees got to .
