Forks Manager Gets Less Travel and More Money

Richard Schnaedter, Forks Township manager until the end of the year, will get about $15,000 a year more as the manager of Hilltown Township in Bucks County.

Richard Schnaedter, manager for about five years, will become Hilltown Township’s new manager beginning Jan. 3.

from Forks in Novemeber and supervisors have contracted with Lafayette College to find a replacement.

Ironically, Hilltown, in Bucks County, had also contracted with Lafayette to find its new manager. Hilltown supervisors had a pool of 40 candidates, but announced on Monday that they gave Schnaedter the job.

lives in Oaks, Montgomery County, but has been staying in an apartment five days a week to work in Forks. That situation, he said, had gotten a little tiring, so he pursued other opportunities.

The commute from Oaks to Hilltown is about 30 minutes, 1/3 of the time it takes Schnaedter to drive to Forks.

But that’s not the only benefit; Schnaedter’s salary will be about $100,000 a year in Hilltown, according to reports. He earned about $85,000 in Forks.

The new manager for Forks, however, will likely get as well, according to township officials.

The township will pay the Meyner Center at Lafayette College $75 an hour for help to recruit a new manager with a cap on the fees set at $5,000.

The search is expected to last about 60 days.
