HBO's Larry David Spotted in Easton

Seinfeld creator and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star apparently eats at Quadrant, tours Lafayette.

We had a celebrity in our neck of the woods.

Every spring, the Quadrant in downtown Easton sees a lot of parents of prospective Lafayette College students.

So far, only one of them has been the creator of Seinfeld.

Larry David, who helped Jerry Seinfeld craft the classic NBC sitcom before going to star on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, apparently stopped by the Third Street bookstore/coffeehouse Wednesday while he and his daughter were touring Lafayette.

Word of his visit began circulating on Facebook Wednesday, so we stopped by the Quadrant to ask.

"Was he here? Yes," said owner Jo Moranville. "Did I know who he was? No."

One of her workers told her after the fact, she said. Her daughter Meghan Danielson, a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan, was working upstairs and had no idea until Thursday.

She said she was unable to decide whether to be annoyed that she missed him, or excited that Larry David was—because Danielson lives upstairs—essentially in her house.

On Curb, David plays a—hopefully—fictionalized version of himself: a hugely successful but mostly unhappy curmudgeon dedicated to— depending on the situation—enforcing or defying various social conventions.

In Easton, he was friendly, Moranville said. He ordered fresh fruit, and oatmeal (made with water, not milk.)

Was he funny? asked Meghan.

"No, he was a dad visiting with his daughter," her mother said. "They ate a lot of fresh fruit. They left happy."

David was also spotted Tuesday touring the University of Maryland with his daughter. Lafayette's public relations office was not immediately available to comment Thursday.

After David's visit, Moranville jokingly asked the next visiting Lafayette dad if he was famous.

He wasn't, but he had met Cameron Diaz once. She was really nice.

"You like Cameron Diaz, don't you?" Moranville asked her daughter.

"Not as much as I like Larry David."
