Palmer Township Census Figures Show Population Growth

4,000 more residents move in over the past decade

The population in Palmer Township grew by 23 percent over the past decade, according to the 2010 US Census report.

The report, which was made public earlier this month, revealed the total population for Palmer was 20,691 in 2010 compared to 16,809 in 2000.

Along with the population growth came a change in race figures.

According to 2000 figures, the white population was 15,854. The latest figures are 17,904.

The number of black or African American residents also increased from 2000 to 2010 going from 360 to 1,105.

The number of Asians in the community also increased over the past decade from 308 to 845.

Those of two or more races went from 167 in 2000 to 423 in 2010.
