PennDOT announced a traffic switch originally scheduled for June 15 will occur Monday, June 18 at the Cedar Crest Boulevard Bridge over Cedar Creek in South Whitehall Township.

Traffic has been on the western side of the Bridge since March 8, and will be switched to the newly rehabilitated eastern side on Monday. Motorists should be alert for brief traffic stoppages Monday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The traffic switch is necessary to allow rehabilitation work to continue on the western side of the Bridge.

This bridge rehabilitation project includes replacing the superstructure (deck and beams) on the structurally deficient single span, concrete box beam bridge.

During construction, Cedar Crest Boulevard remains open with one ten foot travel lane in each direction. Access from Cedar Crest Boulevard to Parkway Boulevard will be maintained, but access from Cedar Crest Boulevard north to Broadway is restricted. The posted detour route for Cedar Crest Boulevard north traffic wishing to access Broadway utilizes US 222/Hamilton Boulevard Bypass and Haines Mill Road. Motorists are advised to allow for extra time when traveling through the area.
