What to do on Valentine's Day When You're Single

Some suggestions for taking care of yourself, when no one else is.

So Valentine’s Day is upon us. The season of love, one of our writers says. Phooey.

If you’re single, this is pretty much the worst time of year. That’s why Bethlehem Patch decided to come up with a Top 5 list of things to do if you are single and dateless for Valentine’s Day, with a little help from some of my Facebook friends.

1. Get a group of single and dateless friends together for a fun activity like bowling or karaoke.

2. Go exercise. It’s great stress relief.

3. Read a good book. Or a trashy novel. Your choice.

4. One lady friend wrote: “Watch QVC and buy jewelry, for myself. That's what I used to do when I was single and dateless. Oh wait, I STILL do that.”

5. Monday is the official opening of Major League Baseball spring training. Watch coverage on the MLB Network.

As one of my college buddies put it: “I would say just treat yourself to whatever you really enjoy doing best. That's always the best antidote in my opinion.”

Good advice. Or you could do what I’ll be doing: Working. What can I say? The Bethlehem Area School Board just has no sense of romance.
