1 Dead, Numerous Hurt In Weekend Shootings: Philadelphia Police

One person was killed, and numerous others were hurt in separate shooting across Philadelphia this weekend, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — At least separate eight shootings left one person dead and others hurt over the weekend in Philadelphia, according to police.

The violent weekend began at about 7:20 p.m. Friday on the 7200 block of Oxford Avenue.

A 33-year-old man was shot in his chest, police said. He died at 7:33 p.m. at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police are working to identify a gunman and motive.

A 36-year-old man was shot at about 9:10 p.m. Friday at 53rd and Market street, police said.

The man suffered multiple gunshots to his left arm after an argument outside a bar led to shots being fired. He was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.

Police described the suspect as a black man standing 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with short dreadlocks who was last seen wearing a long brown coat and blue jeans and running south on 53rd Street and west on Ludlow Street.

Three people were shot at about 11:46 p.m. Friday at the Moonlight Lounge on the 600 block of Limekiln Pike.

Police were called to the establishment for a report of a person with a gun, and when they arrived they found fired cartridge casings and projectiles, and a 54-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.

While officers were at the hospital, a silver Mazda SUV arrived carrying two additional shooting victims; A 35-year-old male who suffered a gunshot wound to the hip, and a 22-year-old male who was shot in the right hand. The younger man drove both men to the hospital. The 35-year-old victim underwent surgery, and his condition is unknown.

Police believed a fight broke out in the bar before shots were fired, and that several people were involved. At least one gun was recovered, police said.

At about 4:09 a.m. Saturday, police found a 32-year-old man suffering from a gunshot while sitting in a Dodge Charged in the parking lot of the 35th Police District headquarters at 5932 N. Broad Street.

The man told officers he was shot once in the left bicep while sitting inside his vehicle near Hunting Park and Roosevelt Boulevard, then drove to the district for help.

He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

According to police, the victim said that two or three unknown men approached his vehicle before opening fire on him.

No arrests have been made, and a motive has not yet been determined.

At about 9 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the 7100 block of Stenton Avenue for shots fired.

There, they found a 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment.

No arrests or motive have been established in this shooting.

About 12 hours later at 9:08 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet as he walked on the 3900 block of North 7th Street toward Luzerne Street. The bullet grazed his right shoulder.

He was given a ride to Broad and Susquehanna streets, then went home before being taken to Uberto Einstein Medical Center by his parents.

Officers met with the boy at the hospital, and he told them he heard multiple gunshots before realizing he had been struck.

He took cover under a parked car until the shooting stopped and did not see the shooter and does not believe he was targeted.

The boy was treated and released from the hospital.

An adult man was shot at about 4:06 p.m. Sunday on the 2000 block of Morris Street.

Police said he was shot in his leg and is now in stable condition at Presbyterian Medical Center.

No arrests have been made in connection with that shooting.

And at about 11 p.m. Sunday, a man shot his wife on the 1300 block of Hale Street, according to reports.

A 75-year-old man shot his 52-year-old wife times in their home, Action News reports.

The woman is reportedly in stable condition after being shot in the chest and suffering a graze wound on her back, according to NBC10.

It's unclear what led to the shooting.
