Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:
- On Monday night, Philadelphia residents attending the 4th of July fireworks on the Parkway fled en masse as there were reports of police officers shot in the area. The officers were shot along the 2500 block of Spring Garden, blocks from where the concert and fireworks were taking place. The officers were treated and released from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Officials are still looking for details about the shooting and who the shooter or shooters are. It was unclear if the officers were targeted or if they were struck during "celebratory gunfire" amid the Fourth of July festivities. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
- Philadelphia parents affected by the baby formula shortage are about to have some relief. UPS is transporting 95 tons of baby formula to Philadelphia from a plant in Melbourne, Australia. The formula arrived on Tuesday and is expected to reach stores within the week. (CBS Philly)
- On Wednesday morning, Southwest Philadelphia will be sprayed for mosquito treatment. The spray is part of a state-funded program to reduce the number of mosquitoes in Philadelphia that have had West Nile Virus. The spraying will take place at dawn and should not impact residents.
