AJ Brown Makes Promise To Boy Deemed Hero After Philly Plane Crash

PHILADELPHIA — A young boy who was hurt while protecting his sister from debris during last week's deadly plane crash in Philadelphia got a promise from one of the Philadelphia Eagles' star players.

Andre Howard, 10, was severely injured when a piece of debris pierced his head as he shielded his 4-year-old sister from the shrapnel.

The debris came through the windshield of a vehicle he and his sister were in, striking his head.

"His medical care, which includes surgeries, therapy, and ongoing treatment, will be extensive," his mother Lashawn Hamiel wrote on a GoFundMe campaign page. "While Andre’s strength and resilience shine through, his recovery will require time, care, and resources."

And after hearing about Andre's story, star Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown chimed in on social media.

"You are a Hero young man," he said on social media. "I’m going to come see you when I get back. Hopefully with some hardware. Playing for you on Sunday my man."

"Andre is a kind, loving child with a bright future," Hamiel wrote. "This tragedy has shaken our family and the community, but with your help, we can focus on what matters most: helping Andre heal and thrive."
