- On Wednesday morning, two men were shot in a drive-by shooting at SEPTA's Arrott Transportation Center on Frankford Avenue. A 29-year-old man was in critical condition from a gunshot to the chest and a 19-year-old man is in stable condition. The two shooting suspects were chased by police and later taken into custody. - Philadelphia's liquor tax collections have been declining, affecting school funding. The collections from bars dropped from $15 million in 2019 to $6.2 million in 2021. School funding as a result has dropped, as the city's liquor tax was the third-largest contributor to the school district. (69News WFMZ-TV)
- In a trade deadline haul, the Philadelphia Phillies landed starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard, center fielder Brandon Marsh, and back-end reliever David Robertson. To land these players the Phillies traded Mickey Moniak, JoJo Romero, Logan O’Hoppe, RHP Ben Brown, and Jadiel Sanchez. (Philadelphia Patch)
