- The Community College of Philadelphia has announced that it will be paying off over $1.4 million in outstanding balances. The payment will help about 1,900 students who have struggled to pay off their loans. The money comes from HEERF funds included in the American Rescue Plan. Last July, the College made a similar payment of $2.75 million in outstanding balances for nearly 3,500 students. (AL DIA News)
- City officials are considering the implementation of a 10:00 p.m. curfew for children 14 to 17. The bill was introduced to City Council on Jun. 16 and would take effect this summer until Sep. 29. The measure was introduced in an effort to reduce gun violence in Philadelphia. As of Jun. 19, approximately 230 people have died from gun violence in the city. (AL DIA News)
- A government attorney from the Phillippines was shot and killed Sunday on the way to the Philadelphia airport. According to police, the victim was 36-year-old John Albert Laylo. Reportedly, someone in a black vehicle fired several rounds into Laylo's uber at a red light near the University of Pennsylvania. Laylo had previously worked as a legislative staffer for an opposition Senator in the Philippines before taking up graduate studies. (CBS News)

- US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly recorded a new record low temperature for Reading. The city's Jun. 20 record low was previously 48 degrees, and hit 47 yesterday.
