Community Rallying For People Impacted By Philly Plane Crash

A few GoFundMe campaigns have launched in the wake of the tragic and devastating plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia. See details here.

PHILADELPHIA — Community members are uplifting some of those affected by last week's deadly plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia by supporting GoFundMe campaigns.

GoFundMe has verified three fundraisers that seek to help people impacted by the crash.

One is looking to support the family of 10-year-old Andre Howard.

Andre's mother, Lashawn Hamiel, said her son was hurt while trying to protect his 4-year-old sister when piece of debris went through a car windshield.

The debris pierced Andre's head, causing severe injuries.

"His medical care, which includes surgeries, therapy, and ongoing treatment, will be extensive," his mother wrote. "While Andre’s strength and resilience shine through, his recovery will require time, care, and resources."

Funds raised will be used for medical expenses not covered by insurance, rehabilitation and physical therapy, day-to-day needs, and more.

"Andre is a kind, loving child with a bright future," Hamiel wrote. "This tragedy has shaken our family and the community, but with your help, we can focus on what matters most: helping Andre heal and thrive."

So far, more than $61,400 of the $80,000 goal has been raised.

Another is raising funds for the family of an 8-year-old boy named Ramesses, who is in a coma following the crash.

"His parents are going through a very difficult time," organizer Yahaira Morales wrote on the page. "He has burns all over his body and needs surgery."

As of Wednesday morning, $17,450 goal has been raised.

Alexis Lloyd was displaced by the crash after the crash destroyed the first floor of her home at the corner of Cottman and Rupert. Her vehicle was also severely damaged in the crash.

GoFundMe campaign organizer Barbara Roque said funds donated will be used to help Lloyd, her daughter, and her dog with temporary housing, necessities, meals, transportation costs, replacing essential documents, and more.

More than $32,400 has been donated to this campaign.
