Cop Hurt Investigating Stolen Vehicle: Philly Police
A Philadelphia Police officer was injured when a stolen vehicle suspect tried to drive off Saturday night, according to authorities.
PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia Police officer was hurt while investigating a stolen vehicle this weekend, authorities said.
At about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the 2500 block of Church Street for a report of a disorderly crowd.
There, police investigated a black BMW they determined was stolen.

When an officer approached the vehicle's driver's side door and held it open, the driver reversed, police said.
The BMW struck a marked police car, and the officer's hand got caught between the door and the vehicle, according to police.

Police were able to take the driver into custody.
The injured officer was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was treated for a laceration and a broken finger, as well as shoulder and hip pain.
Police said he is in stable condition.
The suspect faces charges including assault on police and vehicle theft, police said.
