- A new bill could soon prohibit the City of Philadelphia from collecting government benefits meant for foster children. An investigation from the Inquirer in December 2021 revealed the city kept $5 million in Social Security benefits from foster children between 2016 and 2020; the Department of Human Services legally collected these benefits while the children were in the agency's custody. Should the bill pass, DHS would be required to ensure all children are screened for eligible government benefits within 60 days. (PhillyVoice.com)
- Next Monday, Mar. 28, restaurants in Philly and the surrounding suburbs will participate in a "Cocktails for a Cause" benefit for Ukrainian refugees and aid. University City's White Dog Cafe and Louie Louie, as well as Moshulu along Penn's Landing, are among the participating eateries. Each restaurant will serve its typical menus alongside two locally-sourced beverages: the "Kyiv Mule" and the "Pinot for Peace." (PhillyVoice.com)
- The Philadelphia Police Department is searching for three juveniles in connection with a double shooting. According to police, two 14-year-old males and a 16-year-old male approached two male victims and demanded money, shooting them after a brief altercation. One victim is reported to be in critical condition at a local hospital; the other is expected to survive his injuries. (WPVI-TV)
