The Philly region is home to some very famous locations that are perfect for eliciting screams from thrill seekers during Halloween season.

Halloween Nights at Eastern State Penitentiary — Philadelphia

Each year, the historic penitentiary in Philadelphia's Fairmount neighborhood transforms into a Halloween lover's dream. Not only does the penitentiary offer plenty of frightful attractions, guests can enjoy a beer garden, a speakeasy in Al Capone's cell, flashlight tours, and live performances.

Pennhurst Asylum — Spring City

Pennhurst Asylum could be tied for Pennsylvania's most famous haunted house with Eastern State Penitentiary's. Much like Halloween Nights at Eastern State, the Pennhurst Asylum haunted house is held in a former mental asylum in Chester County. The location features four bone-chilling attractions that promise to "test the limits of your sanity."

Lincoln Mill Haunted House — Manayunk, Philadelphia

Located in a former mill house in Philadelphia's Manayunk neighborhood, Lincoln Mill Haunted House tells the story of the fictional Victor Kane, who owned the mill and tormented and experimented on his workers.

The Bates Motel — Glen Mills

CNN Travel once named this Delaware County haunted attraction among the nation's scariest. Guests can traverse the haunted motel, as well as take a scream-inducing hayride or a terrifying trail walk through a cornfield.

Fright Factory — Philadelphia

Located in South Philadelphia, Fright Factory features more than 25,000 square feet of terror. The massive space includes four attractions designed for adults: Industrial Nightmare, South Side Sanatorium, and Fright Factory Unholy.
