- As gun violence continues to spike in Philadelphia, residents, elected officials, and community leaders are becoming increasingly concerned about "ghost" firearms. These ghost guns come in two separate parts and can be assembled in minutes. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is concerned about this trend because ghost guns are not only untraceable, but they also don't require a criminal background check to purchase online. - On Mar. 2, the Philadelphia City Council will vote on whether to create a Philadelphia Public Financial Authority (PPFA) — a move that would make Philly the first U.S. city to charter a public bank. Supporters of the PPFA believe it will boost investment in underserved areas of the city and bolster small businesses, particularly those owned by people of color. (The Daily Pennsylvanian)
- While out in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, a person stumbled upon human remains. Officers were called to the scene for reports of a person screaming, at which time they discovered the human remains found behind a tree near Kelly Drive. The remains, which appeared to have been burned, were taken to the Medical Examiner's Office; homicide detectives are investigating the case. (WPVI-TV)
