North Philadelphia Welcomes New Supermarket Offering Value, Variety, and Community Connection
November 5, 2025 (North Philadelphia, PA) – Allegiance Retail Services, a leading retailer-owned grocery co-op, is proud to announce the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Super Foodtown at Harrowgate Plaza Shopping Center in Philadelphia, PA by co-op member Carlos Ubiera. The 17,000-square-foot store, formerly Compare & Save, will bring the community exceptional value, fresh products, and signature Foodtown programs.
The Grand Opening was held Saturday, November 1st and featured special in-store sales, product demonstrations, and food samples from brands including Boar’s Head.
City Councilmember at Large, Nina Ahmad, Ph.D. partook in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and shared the following remarks, “I want to congratulate Mr. Carlos Ubiera, Allegiance Retail Services, and the entire Foodtown team on this exciting milestone. This beautiful, 17,000-square-foot store represents more than just a place to buy groceries — it represents renewal and resilience. A fire earlier this year forced the community and business owners to regroup, rebuild, and rise again. And today, we are standing together — stronger, prouder, and ready to serve our neighbors with fresh, quality food and excellent service.”

“Philadelphia is a growing, diverse city, and we want Super Foodtown to be a place where everyone feels at home.
