PHILADELPHIA, PA — The remnants of Ida could bring up to 6 inches of rain to Eastern Pennsylvania Tuesday night through Thursday. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the region Wednesday and Thursday.

In addition to heavy rain, the storm could bring severe thunderstorms and flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, the remnants will pass through eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday, departing Thursday morning.

Area residents can expect widespread rainfall of 3 to 5 inches but more than 6 inches is possible in some areas. Rain is in the forecast from Tuesday night through Thursday.

"Significant flooding and flash flooding is likely Wednesday and Wednesday night, especially given that the ground is saturated from recent heavy rain events," the National Weather Service said. Additionally, "significant" river flooding is likely for some main stem rivers, creeks, and streams starting Wednesday afternoon.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
