Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- A woman is dead after being shot in a Northeast Philadelphia bar. According to police, the shooter was a disgruntled patron who left the bar to retrieve the gun from his truck and fired 15 shots into the bar. The incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. A second victim was struck by glass and cut in his face. As of Wednesday afternoon, police are still reviewing evidence to identify the man and his truck. (WPVI-TV)
- Was your key card double-charged by SEPTA? Transit authorities have been issuing refunds to affected riders, but roughly half of those experiencing the double-charge have yet to receive what's due. Some riders previously contacted SEPTA about the issue but were told that no problem existed. According to SEPTA, if you're a travel wallet rider, your purchases will be reviewed individually, while weekly and monthly passes are being credited automatically. (Billy Penn)
- Homicides are on the rise in Philly, but the number of murderers caught is dropping. According to data assembled by CBS, the Philadelphia police department is solving only slightly more than a quarter of all murders involving a Black victim, and only 42 percent of murders in Philadelphia overall. According to Philadelphia police, the problem is in part due to staffing and in part a lack of resources: some Philly cops in the homicide department have had to start using typewriters. (CBS Philly)
