- A fast-moving fire damaged Jim's Steaks, the beloved cheesesteak joint on South Street, early Friday morning. Although smoke was pouring from the building, all the employees were able to safely evacuate. No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is still being investigated. (The Washington Post)
- Raheem Murphy is being charged for allegedly threatening to throw a baby off I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia. On Thursday, when Murphy was described by witnesses as attempting to throw the baby off of I-95, he also threatened the mother of his child and a bystander who chose to intervene. Police allege that Murphy kidnapped his child and the child's mother at gunpoint to bring them to this location. Christine King, the woman who stepped in when she saw the baby in danger, said police were able to safely remove the baby from Murphy once they arrived. (WPVI-TV)
- Police say a 26-year-old man was shot in the neck and killed on Wednesday evening in South Philly. They have identified the man as Joelil Foy. The shooting occurred before 7:00 p.m. and Foy was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m. The incident is still under investigation and there is little information available at this time other than the fact that Foy was shot and killed near his home.
