Kada Scott's Cause Of Death Revealed After Murder Charge Filed

PHILADELPHIA — The cause of death for 23-year-old Kada Scott has been released.

Scott’s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head, the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office. Her manner of her death has been declared a homicide.

Her date of death is listed as Oct. 18.

This news comes a day after Keon King, 21, was charged with Scott's murder. He is also charged with robbery, firearm violations, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, possession of an instrument of crime, theft, and conspiracy, the DA's office said.

On Monday, authorities announced King was charged with arson, causing or risking catastrophe, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and recklessly endangering another person. Before that, he was charged with kidnapping, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal use of a communication facility in connection with Scott's disappearance.

The new charges come after the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office ruled Scott's manner of death homicide. King is now being held without bail.

According to the DA's office, a 2008 Black Hyundai Accent was reported stolen from 6600 Sprague Street on Oct. 3. On Oct. 4, Scott was reported missing after leaving her overnight job at The Terrance at Chestnut Hill, an assisted living facility located on East Abington Avenue.

Video evidence showed the same Hyundai Accent parking at the East Awbury Recreation Center on the 6100 Block of Ardleigh Street in the late evening on Oct. 4.

At about 3 a.m. on Oct. 7, police responded to a report of a burned Black Hyundai Accent at the 2300 Block of 74th Avenue.

When investigators arrived, the burned Hyundai was no longer at the location. Investigators later found the vehicle compacted at a nearby junkyard. Authorities believe King used the vehicle.

Video evidence recovered from the East Awbury Recreation Center found the Black Hyundai on the property of the former Ada Lewis Middle School located in East Germantown.

Cell phone evidence and call detail records related to King puts him at these locations.

On October 18, investigators found Scott's remains on the school grounds.
