- Experts are warning that next week will be dangerously hot, and the heat will be sticking around. According to meteorologist Bill Henley, next Tuesday could begin a six-day stretch of 90-plus-degree temperatures with humidity levels that will put the heat index above 100 degrees. Experts are advising people to limit their outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and use air conditioning. People without access to sufficient cooling are urged to call the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging's "Heatline" at 215-765-9040. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
- Almost 3,000 new tech jobs came to Philly in the past year. CBRE released its latest Scoring Tech Talent Report, and it ranks Philadelphia 22 on the list of cities with the most tech growth in 2022. Last year, Philly ranked 26. The average tech salary in Philadelphia is just over $100,000, and tech workers account for 4.3 percent of the Philadelphia workforce.(Technical.ly)
- People are calling for increased security from SEPTA after multiple violent incidents have occurred in transit facilities. Just Thursday, a 19-year-old was shot multiple times on a subway platform in Center City. The incident comes as a rash of gun violence has hit Philadelphia throughout the summer. (CBS Philly)
