Man Fatally Shot During Attempted Vehicle Theft In Philadelphia

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot during an attempted vehicle theft in Philadelphia early Monday morning, according to police and reports.

PHILADELPHIA — A man was fatally shot in Philadelphia early Monday, and the victim is alleged to have been trying to steal a vehicle.

The shooting happened at 1:40 a.m. on the 3500 block of North Warnock Street.

Philadelphia Police said officers were called to the area for a report of a shooting and found a 23-year-old man suffering from a two gunshot wounds to the back and one to the chest.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m.

According to multiple reports, the victim was trying to steal a Mercedes-Benz vehicle when he was shot.

Police said SWAT members served a search warrant at a residence in relation to the shooting and took someone into custody for further investigation, Monday morning.

There is no confirmation of this person's relationship to the vehicle or the shooting, police said.
