Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. Last Thursday, City Council passed a bill requiring Philadelphia employers to provide commuter benefits to workers who travel into the city in the near future. The bill is part of a larger effort to improve transit ridership and was introduced by Councilmember Helen Gym in April. The bill is on its way to Mayor Jim Kenney's desk for signature and will impact Philly companies with 50 or more employees. (PhillyVoice.com)
  2. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Fox Street bridge over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia will be closed and detoured on Monday, Jun. 13, through Friday, Jun. 17, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning for deck repair. During the overnight closure, Fox Street motorists will be directed to use Roberts Avenue and Queen Lane to the adjacent Henry Avenue bridge. (MyChesCo)
  3. Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old in East Germantown. According to police, an 18-year-old male was shot once in the head and once in the left shoulder. He was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A 25-year-old man was also shot, twice in the back and once in the left arm, but has been listed in stable condition at the same hospital. (WPVI-TV)
