- An emergency peace walk was held yesterday in South Philly following the death of Joelill Foy, a member of the singing group Brotherly Love. Residents and community leaders came together to act against the city's gun violence crisis. Foy's death occurred during the second shooting on his block that week. (CBS Philly)
- The UC Townhomes property owners are pursuing "legal remedies" to break up the protest encampment in West Philly after more than three weeks. Despite a court order calling for the removal of the encampment, residents and activists say they will continue to protect the site.
The coalition to save the townhomes said, “Our understanding is that if we are still there tomorrow [Monday] the owner will have to return to court to compel the sheriff to evict. We are not sure how long that may take or when the sheriff may come.” (WHYY) - Elizabeth Blumenthal, who pleaded guilty to setting police cars on fire during the 2020 protests in Philly, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison. Police used photos from the protest as well as social media profiles to find Blumenthal, who was wearing a distinctive shirt from Etsy and had a recognizable tattoo. In court, Blumenthal said she had been high on drugs and filled with fear and rage following the death of George Floyd as well as the economic uncertainty produced by the COVID pandemic.
