- Philadelphia's School District leaders have asked City Council for billions to address school infrastructure problems and other issues. Although spending on city schools has increased, officials say they need more money to fix problems such as school closures due to asbestos. The city has proposed a budget of $282 million, but officials say they need $2.4 billion to repair building systems and $430 million annually to address health hazards and safety deficiencies. (WHYY)
- A man accused of shooting two Philadelphia police officers during a weekend standoff in Germantown is now facing charges of child molestation, in addition to charges related to the shooting. Steve Robbins was shot and hospitalized in critical condition after police returned fire. The officers were not injured, as they were protected by their body armor. Robbins now faces a total of four criminal cases, including seven counts of assault of a law enforcement officer and related offenses. (WPVI-TV)
- Two juveniles have been arrested and charged for a quadruple shooting in Northeast Philadelphia that left three teenagers dead. Two other men are being sought by police as persons of interest in the case. Police found ballistic evidence on the road and a firearm inside the residence where the victims were located. (Patch)
