  1. The Philadelphia International Airport is receiving $20M for upgrades and repairs. The Biden Administration is providing similar funds to 85 airports across the country. The money that the Philly airport has received is designed for bathrooms throughout the location. With this expenditure, Congress may raise ticket taxes for airports next year and, accordingly, ticket costs could increase. (Williamsport Sun-Gazette)
  2. Interstate 76 lanes are closing overnight in Philadelphia next week. The interstate will also experience alternating closures of eastbound or westbound from Jul. 11 to Jul. 14. While the operations are weather-dependent, officials recommend drivers to find an alternate route or allow for extended drive times. (Philadelphia Patch)
  3. Philadelphia is issuing new summer curfew laws for teens in hopes of curbing juvenile crime. The curfew, currently in effect, requires teens 14-18 to be home by 10:00 p.m. every night. Anyone 13 and under must be home by 9:30 p.m. Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson cites the curfew as a preventative measure to keep children of the city safe. (CBS Philly)

Are you a Philadelphia resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where theyโ€™d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you canโ€™t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Hereโ€™s why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
