"Pierre loved live music and enjoyed being among the good citizens of Philadelphia," Chuck Damico, Program Director at WMMR, said. "'The Pierre Robert: A Show of Life is a special event for all of us who cherished him, providing a fantastic night of live music and memories while honoring Pierre's amazing life, and helping reduce food shortages in Philadelphia. We are incredibly grateful for the support from all of the artists and performers whom he called his friends, our friends at Live Nation and Cornerstone Management, and especially Pierre's immediate family. We will sing, dance, and celebrate in the way Pierre would have wanted us to. Please join us if you can, and God bless Pierre Robert."
He joined WMMR in 1981 after earlier work at KSAN in San Francisco and became a fixture of Philadelphia radio for 44 years. Listeners knew him for his welcoming "Greetings, citizens" salutation and for a warm, steady presence that bridged generations of rock fans.
On air, Robert blended a deep love of classic rock with curiosity about new music. Longtime segments included "Coffee Break Music Marathon," "Work Force Blocks," and "Pierre's Vinyl Cut." He was known for his annual Thanksgiving show, when he'd play Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" multiple times.
