PSPCA's Pittiefest Brings Adoption Fees To Just $5

While pitties come in different sizes, including shorti and classic, all pitties for this promotion will have $5 adoption fees.

PHILADELPHIA — The Pennsylvania SPCA is launching its monthlong pitbull adoption and education event Tuesday.

From Tuesday to Sunday, Aug. 11, the SPCA is hosting Pittiefest, featuring special adoption fees.

All classic pitties will have their adoption fees set at $5.

This promotion is being held at the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Philadelphia Headquarters, 350 East Erie Ave. in Philadelphia and the organization’s Main Line Anima Rescue site, 1149 Pike Springs Road in Chester Springs

The event will also share important facts and common misconceptions about pitties. For instance, pitbull is not a breed, but rather a generic term used to describe dogs with similar traits and characteristics.

During the summer campaign, adopters are invited to visit the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Philadelphia headquarters and Main Line Animal Rescue sites during open hours to view and meet adoptable dogs.

All normal adoption policies and procedures will be in effect during Pittiefest.

"We hope that PSPCA’s Pittiefest will become an annual summer tradition, celebrating the majestic animals that are commonly referred to as pitties," Gillian Kocher, Director of Public Relations at the Pennsylvania SPCA, said. "This promotion is a time to find homes for these deserving animals, and celebrate everything about them, while simultaneously busting myths."
