  1. Philadelphia public pools are still plagued by a lifeguard shortage — but officials are optimistic that this summer will be better. Officials say if they get about 60 more staffers signed up, they’ll be able to open 65 of their usual 70+ pools. To become a lifeguard, candidates have to be at least 16 years old. They will be expected to work about 35 hours per week from June through August. (WHYY)
  2. Ale and lager lovers will get a whole nine days to explore some of the best brews the city has to offer at Philly Beer Week. It's returning next month from Jun. 3 to 12. Some of the traditional events have changed from those of previous years, but there are still dozens of events planned throughout the city! (PhillyVoice.com)
  3. A mother honored her son as she threw out the first pitch during the Phillies Memorial Day game on Monday. U.S. Marine Lc. Cpl. Marc Leeland Plotts died at the age of 20 in a training exercise while preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in 2010. On Monday, Lee-Ann was one of 165 gold star families to be honored during the Phillies game on Memorial Day. She hopes everyone will say the name of a service member this Memorial Day, so they will "never be forgotten." (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
  4. When the National Liberty Museum opened in 2000 on Chestnut Street in Old City, it aimed to celebrate the ideals of American liberty alongside founder Irvin Borowsky’s art glass collection. The National Liberty Museum recently received a $2 million Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant to renovate its building. The Liberty Museum is branding itself as a place that presents contemporary concepts of liberty. (WHYY)
