- At Thursday's meeting, the Philadelphia City Council passed a bill requiring Philadelphia schools to have additional inspections for cancer-causing asbestos. Yearly inspections are currently not required for publicly funded educational buildings in the city. If the bill is signed by the Mayor it will go into effect over the next three years. (WHYY)
- On Wednesday night, three women and two men were shot near Temple University. Police report that some sort of disagreement led to the shooting. All five victims were taken to Temple University Hospital, two are in critical condition and three are in stable condition. (NBC 10)
