State Trooper, Horse Hit By Truck During Eagles NFC Championship Game
Pennsylvania State Police said a trooper's leg was broken after a driver accused of DUI struck him and his horse during Sunday's game.
PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper suffered a broken leg after a man accused of driving under the influence hit the trooper and his horse during the Eagles NFC Championship game Sunday.
According to state police, the incident occurred at about 3:54 p.m. on Darien Street, just north of Pattison Avenue.
While troopers were on scene at Live! Casino, the PSP Mounted Patrol Unit were called in to assist with dispersing a large crowd that had gathered.

Prior to their arrival, the scene was brought under control and the Mounted Unit was told to resume patrol.
Six members of the Mounted Unit headed south on Darien Street, where a white pickup truck drove past the unit, striking a trooper's left leg and ankle, as well as his horse.

The trooper fell from his mount because of the collision and suffered a broken leg.
Mounted troopers stopped the truck just south of the crash location, and a trooper in a marked patrol vehicle responded to the scene.
State police said the driver showed signs of impairment following field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle while DUI.
