Teen Arrested, Charged In Philadelphia Rec Center Shooting
Five people were injured Wednesday in the shooting near the Christy Recreation Center pool in West Philadelphia.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with this week's shooting near the Christy Recreation Center pool that left five people injured, including two young children.
Philadelphia police confirmed that Keon Kiah turned himself in on Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest earlier in the day. Kiah is charged with 13 counts of aggravated assault, 13 counts of simple assault, 13 counts of recklessly endangering another person and related offenses.
Patch is naming the teen because authorities have charged him as an adult.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 4:05 p.m. near the Christy Rec Center at 56th and Christian streets. Police said about 75 people were in the rec center's pool when the shooting occurred, including children and staff.

As a result of the gunfire, two children, ages 10 and 11, suffered graze wounds, and a bullet also grazed a recreation center employee. Additionally, a 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the face, while another 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the hip.
As of Friday, the 10- and 11-year-old kids were in stable condition at CHOP.
Police said one teen is in stable condition, while the other remains in critical condition. Both were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
The adult, a city worker, suffered a graze wound to his hand and is in stable condition.
Video showed a suspect running from the area, heading east on Christian Street towards 55th Street. He was tracked to an alley located on the 800 block of South 55th Street, where he took off his durag and black T-shirt. He had last been seen trying to get on a SEPTA trolley at 55th Street and Baltimore Avenue.
A motive for the shooting remains unknown.
