Eagles Fan Who Fell From Pole Has Died
An 18-year-old Temple University student died after suffering a severe head injury when he fell from a pole Sunday night after the game.
PHILADELPHIA — A young man who was on life support after falling from a pole in Philadelphia during Eagles NFC Championship victory celebrations has died.
Tyler Sabapathy, 18, died Tuesday afternoon. The news of his death was first reported by Temple University, where Sabapathy was a freshman student.
Sabapathy fell from a light pole at 15th and Market streets Sunday night as Eagles fans took to the streets after they defeated the Washington Commanders 55-23 to secure their spot in Super Bowl LIX.

"There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing," Temple said in a statement Tuesday. "Our hearts go out to Tyler’s family, friends, classmates and all who knew and loved him."
The school said Sabapathy is a Toronto, Canada native who was enrolled in the College of Public Health, majoring in exercise and sport science, and was a member of the university’s club gymnastics team.

Sabapathy, according to Temple, was an accomplished gymnast with more than 120 medals in provincial, regional, and international competitions.
The young man was "fascinated with injury prevention, and this ultimately led him to pursue the major that he did."
"He no doubt had a bright future ahead of him, and it is so tragic that we will not be able to see how he would have made his mark on the world," Temple said.
