Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. Although the Philadelphia Water Department had been scheduled to resume water shutoffs for delinquent accounts, shutoffs have once again been delayed due to the citywide โ€œHeat Health Emergency.โ€ Shutoffs are set to resume after the emergency declaration is lifted. Heat is expected to be in the 90s for the next several days and even reach 100 degrees on Sunday. Customers in the Tiered Assistance Program or the Senior Citizen Discount program will not face shut-offs until Nov. 30, 2022. (WHYY)
  2. A Philadelphia woman has been charged for the death of a toddler in her care via the Department of Human Services. Officials say the three-year-old, Hope Jones, died from blunt force trauma. The District Attorney's Office described the deadly injuries as "extensive and disturbing." Kianna Casey turned herself in to police on Tuesday and is facing charges of third-degree murder, aggravated assault of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
  3. Willie Harris is currently in custody with a bail of $3M after being apprehended for sexual assault at a law firm in Philly. Harris was apprehended in Gloucester County, New Jersey two days after the incident. The Washington Township police, responsible for the arrest, cited social media and the nurse who treated Harris for their ability to locate the suspect. "We posted the social media post around 9 p.m., and he was in custody by 11 p.m.," Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik said. (WPVI-TV)
