- On Thursday night, a Philadelphia teenager was shot by a stray bullet while getting water out of a car on Mulberry Street in Wissinoming. According to family members, 15-year-old Sean Toomey is currently brain dead and may not survive his injuries. Police have yet to determine if Toomey was caught in the crossfire of a robbery or was targeted. (WPVI-TV)
- The Philadelphia Department of Public Health has named Gail Carter-Hamilton, MSN, RN, CSN, as its first-ever chief racial equity officer. Carter-Hamilton's role will be to develop racial equity efforts within the health department. Philadelphia is the third city after New York and Chicago to establish this position. (WHYY)
- After the School District of Philadelphia unveiled its proposed $3.9 billion budget for the 2022-2023 school year, many principals were outraged. Members of the principal's union believe the new budget will lead to staffing cuts at a time when classrooms are already overcrowded. Despite the classroom tightness, student enrollment has been down this year. (The Philadelphia Tribune)
