A 41-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon in University City, Philadelphia Police said.
PHILADELPHIA — A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle as she crossed a busy street in Philadelphia on Thanksgiving, police said.
The incident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday at 36th and Market Streets in University City.
The victim, a 41-year-old woman, was crossing Market Street when she was struck by a vehicle.

NBC10 reports she was launched 200 feet when she was struck.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 31, initially drove off, but was later taken into custody after crashing into another vehicle and running off, according to Action News.
