Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. A 71-year-old woman died after being struck by a SEPTA Bus. The victim was near the intersection of Greene Street and West Walnut Lane in the Germantown neighborhood around 9:28 p.m. Wednesday night when she was struck by the bus. It is currently unclear if the woman was first hit by a car and then the bus as witness testimonies are conflicting. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
  2. A Philadelphia man shot himself and his brother while cleaning his own gun on the back porch of his home. Around 5:42 p.m. on Wednesday night, in Juniata Park, the man shot himself in the hand. The bullet then hit his brother in the stomach. While the man is stable, his brother, who suffered more severe injuries, is listed in critical condition. (WPVI-TV)
  3. The historic medical library at the Mütter Museum is open to the public for the first time. The medical library will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission to the library is free with a weekend museum ticket, which costs between $15 and $20. Heidi Nance, Historical Medical Library director said, "Up until now, the only way to access our collection was by appointment or viewing our digital collection, which only represents one percent of the overall collection. Opening our doors to all visitors on weekends represents a new phase for one of Philadelphia's greatest hidden treasures, sitting just above the iconic Mütter Museum." (PhillyVoice.com)
