Bridge Repairs From Hurricane Ida Damage Begins Wednesday in Chesco
Seven bridges in Chester County that were damaged in September 2021 are being repaired in the next several months.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA —Work crews are expected to begin repairs Wednesday of seven Chester County bridges that were heavily damaged during Hurricane Ida last September, PennDOT announced Friday.
Motorists can expect periodic lane changes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late December.
In Chester County, a total of 12 inches of rain was reported last summer. Hurricane Fred dumped four inches in 1.5 hours and 3.56 in one hour. Ida dumped more than 8 inches of rain.

Municipalities have been working all year on storm damage controls.
PennDOT has allocated $3.2 for repairs in 17 bridges in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., s the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds.
Work is expected to be completed in spring 2023.
These Chester County bridges will be repaired:
- Route 926 (Street Road) over Branch of White Clay Creek, West Marlborough Township;
- Swedesford Road over Little Valley Creek, Tredyffrin Township;
- Boot Road over Valley Creek, East Caln Township;
- West Locust Street over Branch of Tweed Creek, Oxford Borough;
- Gum Tree Road over Branch of Doe Run, Highland Township;
- Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) over Valley Creek, Schuylkill Township;
- Route 82 (Doe Run Road) over Black Run, West Marlborough and East Fallowfield townships.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.
